Tŷ Pawb meaning ‘Everybody’s House’ was a RIBA 1-3 project with Featherstone Young relocating a Council-run art gallery within an existing, purpose-built, precast concrete 1990's multi-storey car park and market hall. The new facilities include art galleries, market stalls, performance space, a learning centre, cafes and bars. Studios and meeting rooms for artists and gallery staff overlook newly created double-height spaces. The project challenged the traditional art gallery environment offering a looser and more experimental space rooted in the community and everyday life.
The scheme went on to win many awards and continues to develop links between the arts programme, the market stallholders and visitors with a mix mutually reciprocal activities which enhance the high street and build community.
